Maipú & Luján: Family Legacy

Our first appointment is at Bodega Bonfanti, a boutique winery located in Perdriel, Lujan de Cuyo. Since he was a child, Roberto Bonfanti, son of Italian immigrants, took interest in the cultural works of the vineyards. His passion and dedication throughout the years can be appreciated nowadays in his awarded wines. Meet the owners and walk their lovely vineyards as they share their passion for this activity that their predecessors have passed on.

Next you will be driven to Bodega Domaine St. Diego. Hidden off a country road next to an old ivy-covered church, chime the bell of this tiny garage winery whose owner and winemaker is considered one of the fathers of Mendocino terroir: Ángel Mendoza. Working as the premier winemaker at several wineries in the region, Mendoza is known as the steady hand in expanding Mendoza County's great successes and growth in the industry.

After completing his degree in 1971, Mendoza joined the team at Peñaflor and for 25 years acted as the premier winemaker of Peñaflor's Trapiche. In 2001, Ángel Mendoza was awarded ¨Argentina's Winemaker of the Year¨ by his colleagues for dedicating 23 years to ensure Trapiche's success. We will try their hand-crafted wines and pair them with homemade breads, olive oil, walnuts and almonds, while visiting this enchanting place with the family. This is as local as it gets!

For lunch, we´ll enjoy world-class Mendoza cuisine at top restaurant at Bodega Clos de Chacras. The four- course menu is (Dishes are) inspired from authentic recipes, regional cooking techniques, and the fantastic ingredients. A selection of premium wines complements each course. After lunch, meet the owners and walk their lovely vineyards as they share their passion for this activity that their predecessors have passed on.

As you come to the end of this tour, you return to Mendoza with the sense of connection to the soul of this blessed land and profoundly inspired by those who have striven to cultivate it. Return to the hotel by 4.30pm.
