This itinerary allows us to cross the Andes Mountains, an orographic barrier located at the foot of the city of Mendoza, whose hills are about 3000/3500 meters above sea level. In this circuit we will enjoy a varied flora and fauna of the mountains, in addition to the historical site of Villavicencio.
Before starting our adventure, we will visit the beautiful building of the Gran Hotel Villavicencio, a thermal tourism complex that operated until 1979 and which today is located within the framework of the Natural Reserve, to protect the region and the properties of the mineral water that is obtained in the Precordillera and sold throughout the country.
We begin the ascent to the sinuous road that is part of the old road to Chile, where we will climb at our own pace more than 1500 meters until we reach Cruz de Paramillos. From there we will contemplate wonderful views and enjoy a varied fauna (condors, foxes, guanacos, hares, etc.). While we enjoy a snack, we can see the summit of Cerro Aconcagua to the west and also the impressive valleys that we traveled. We immediately begin a wonderful descent to the town of Uspallata. Here we can make a stop to visit the Paramillos Silver Mines, considered the first mining operation in the country, and for many years they have been abandoned.
We continue the descent by bicycle after traveling 45 km in approximately 7 hours.
We’re in the business of crafting memorable and inspiring journeys. Our website is designed to help discerning travelers plan the most complex itineraries, down to the tiniest detail.
